Highlights: The Incredible, Everest Base Camp trek
will challenge you physically and spiritually. Simply majestic, the trip
offers spectacular mountain views of Everest and insight to Sherpa
villages and its beautiful cultures.
Trip Summary: Everest is the highest region (4,000
m; 13,123 ft.) in Nepal and it offers superb trekking with majestic
mountain views. This twelve-day trek begins in the town of Lukla and
winds up the Solu and Khumbu valleys, following the storied footsteps of
Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay, the first men to summit Everest.
Sherpa culture will be on display as we pass through local villages,
rice paddies and Buddhists monasteries on our way to base camp.
Highlights include crossing the Dudh Koshi River, an overnight stop in
Namache Bazaar, a large and vibrant trading village and a visit to
historic and serene Tengboche monastery. Once at base camp, we will make
one final ascent through the Khumbu glacier to the top of Kala Patthar,
(5545m; 18,000ft.) where we will enjoy an unparalleled view of the Mount Everest.
This trek has been designed to allow for acclimatization to the extreme altitude.
